Girls Write: Recipes and Stories from Resilient Women

by Students from Everett Middle School

The Project
826 Valencia partnered with Everett Middle School’s 8th Grade Creative Writing class. Throughout the semester students interviewed a woman in their lives and dove deep into food history and cultural connection.

During this Project
Yareli was serving as the In-Schools, Program Manager for 826 Valencia. She developed a partnership with Everett’s Librarian to bring forth a curriculum that celebrated culture, identity, and food history. Yareli facilitated the class both in English and Spanish, and translated all the materials needed for this project and for the publication.
